The curriculum K-12
is designed to be an outcomes based curriculum it is known to hone different
competencies in the learner which he/she can use in the future. Living now in
the 21st century with our 21st century learners, with the
most updated way of learning were you can learn anytime, anywhere, because of
the abundant sources of knowledge. Given these many sources for references some
of the students or pupils think going to school is irrelevant, because what’s
the point of going to school if you can acquire all the knowledge within just
one click on the search bar? That’s why as teachers it is our responsibility to
eradicate that kind of mindset, because living in this world full of
opportunities is a competition. A competition between competent students or
people who are good at doing the job required. School ranks, IQ, and Graduate
titles come second, because what is the use of these titles and ranks if you
are not as skillful as the other person who has no ranks, and we the teachers
will help pupils/students be as skillful as everyone else in the world, thus
staying in school is very important.
As a future teacher I have
inclined my teaching in this phrase
“Teach everybody, everything”
A
child is a blank slate, given us teacher huge opportunity to inculcate various
of concepts as early as possible for life-long learning. We should not limit
our students/pupils based on their ranks or age the earlier he/she is exposed
with huge amount of knowledge the better. Gradually until the child finishes his/her
childhood level. The blank slate that you were referring will start to make
wonders and will soon change the world. As the teacher you are in charge of the
data or concepts you will transfer to them, also we must ensure that we
transfer minimal concepts per day/session to prevent too much information to
accumulate. Remember we are raising a future changer not a robot, let us not
also forget that children learn best on playing thus we must always integrate play
on our activities.
